Woolworths has launched a new groceries delivery service called Basic Box to make food delivery to vulnerable customers across the country very easy. The Woolworths Basic Box which includes meals and other essential items will sell for $80.
The service which was launched over the weekend will roll out across Victoria and NSW this week, other parts of Australia will start getting their supplies in the coming weeks . The CEO Woolworth Group Brad Banducci said in a statement on Monday that the package which includes the groceries and delivery, is to aid people who are in isolation and cannot come out to get the essentials they need.
Banducci stated that no profit is made from this service and citizens should take advantage of this opportunity to order groceries for their loved one who are vulnerable at the moment. He said Australian Post, DHL supply chain and other distribution channels will be used to get the orders to their destination as soon as they are made.
They basic box package which will contain meals, snacks and other essential items is not customizable and are for people genuinely in need of groceries but can’t go out to get them. The list includes those in mandatory isolation, older people, people with disabilities and those with compromised immunity.
Woolworths Group is working in collaboration with Australia post to make sure people get the groceries they need. Once orders are placed, Australia post will send updates via text message and email to the customer. From there persons can expect to get their groceries delivered to them.
Woolworths has been offering priority assistance to Australians in this period of isolation. Just recently the retail giant announced 20,000 Woolworth job offers for Australians, the offer is still on and employment in this period is still possible.
